Feasibility of realizing daytime solar heating and radiative cooling simultaneously with a novel structure

چکیده
Recent breakthroughs in preparing near-perfect emitters have made it possible to realize daytime radiative cooling under intensive solar radiation. However, a typical cooler cannot deliver heat and may even cause an undesired effect on cold days. Instead of rejecting the radiation back sky, this work proposes new concept capturing “free” renewable energy while dumping waste through cooling. The structure features upper solar-transparent emitter lower absorber. Simulation results suggest that, heating simultaneously, solar-absorptivity should be extremely low, absorbed instantly effectively taken away by thermal carriers. With ambient temperature 25 °C maximum irradiance 1000 W/m2, can always reach sub-ambient if absorber is than 33.9 non-vacuum case, exceed 70 air cavity between vacuumized. A performance simulation three consecutive days Shanghai reveals that with reduction over 9.3°C from around noon.

Radiative cooling of solar cells
Standard solar cells heat up under sunlight. The resulting increased temperature of the solar cell has adverse consequences on both its efficiency and its reliability. We introduce a general approach to radiatively lower the operating temperature of a solar cell through sky access, while maintaining its solar absorption. We first present an ideal scheme for the radiative cooling of solar cells....

This study presents a theoretical analysis of a new combined cooling, heating, and power cycle by the novel integration of an organic Rankine cycle (ORC), an ejector refrigeration cycle (ERC), and a heat pump cycle (HPC) for producing cooling output, heating output, and power output simultaneously. Three different working fluids—namely R113, isobutane, and R141b—have been used in power, ref...
متن کاملUltrabroadband photonic structures to achieve high-performance daytime radiative cooling.
If properly designed, terrestrial structures can passively cool themselves through radiative emission of heat to outer space. For the first time, we present a metal-dielectric photonic structure capable of radiative cooling in daytime outdoor conditions. The structure behaves as a broadband mirror for solar light, while simultaneously emitting strongly in the mid-IR within the atmospheric trans...
